As a young girl growing up in India, I always found myself drawn to the vibrant colors in the fabrics and designs that surrounded me. I also took pleasure in reading and drawing in my spare time. However, it was the books on French impressionist paintings that my mother shared with me that profoundly influenced and ignited my passion for painting.
I consider myself fortunate to have discovered and pursued my artistic interests later in life. Upon graduating from an MFA program in 2018, I committed myself to becoming a full-time professional artist.
Influenced by the impressionists, I am particularly fascinated by capturing the beauty of light in landscapes. I love how it can transform the ordinary into something mysterious and enchanting.
Residing in Florida, I naturally draw inspiration from its sunny beaches and stunning sunsets. Lately, I’ve been exploring its lush tropical scenery, flora, and fauna.
To sum it up, I most enjoy immersing myself in and portraying surroundings that exude happy, comforting, and sometimes contemplative vibes.
I delight in depicting everyday scenes and simple moments in a striking and universally relatable manner. Whether it’s a patch of sunlight creating intriguing patterns in the garden, a surfer framed by the shimmering waters of the Atlantic, or boats silhouetted against the rosy glow of the setting sun.
It may even be a particular slant of light hitting the facade of a building. I believe beauty surrounds us in all aspects of life, often in the most unexpected places.
I find that the most thrilling aspect of painting is the ability to observe, create, and present something beautiful and unique for the viewer to enjoy. This is an ongoing journey of discovery, and application. I look forward to continuing to grow my artistic potential.
Currently, my work is represented by the Lost Art Gallery in St. Augustine, Florida, and Mary Martin Galleries in Charleston, South Carolina.
