🩰Ballet News Reviews | Ballet Besties 🩰

What would you do if your local ballet studio was threatened with closure? Would your Ballet Besties help to persuade grumpy Dane Audrey to keep it open?

Well, if you’re Yara, and your ballet studio is called ‘Shimmer & Shine’, then there is a lot at stake, including the chance to dance her dream role.

Ballet Besties, by Yasmine Naghdi & Chitra Soundar, is a new book series aimed at children aged 7-9, and is published on 14th March.

It’s a well paced read, with plucky Yara hatching a bold plan to save the studio, and her dreams!

The lovely, clear illustrations by Paula Franco mingle with the text in just the right balance, and as they are black and white, they sit comfortably with the text, enhancing the reading experience. There’s a glossary of the ballet words used in the book, as well as an introduction to the five basic foot and arm positions.

Oh, and there’s cake. Need I say more?!
